Why People Choose to Birth at Home with Midwives

Your care is tailored to your specific needs and preferences. You choose who is present at your birth, including older children and family members. Your birth environment is calm, familiar, and comfortable.

Your bodily autonomy is honored and consent is paramount, meaning no unnecessary interventions. You are free to eat, drink, and bathe as you wish. You can birth in any position or location you like, with a waterbirth option available. There is no need to drive to another location mid-birth. Being at home lowers your risk of infection and your risk of cesarean birth is very low.

Your baby remains with you always, and skin to skin contact is automatic.

You receive early and expert lactation support, leading to higher and longer term breastfeeding success rates. Postpartum care is gentle, thorough, and frequent. You benefit from lower rates and early detection of postpartum mood disorders as well as more complete postpartum healing. There is so much more!
